The Kwéyòl St
Lucie course is intended to give Peace Corps Trainees planning to serve in the
Eastern Caribbean a basic introduction to the language’s history, usage and
cultural context and to furnish Trainees with basic survival phrases, in an
effort to orient them to the language, facilitate their ease of movement in the
early weeks of PST, and provide a basis for intensive language training on
site. This will be achieved through the use of multi-media activities,
resources & guides, and assessments.

The Mid-Service Training Conference is the second IST which occurs at the end of the first year of the PCVs’ service. PCVs from all four islands confer at one location on their respective islands for a two-day event to celebrate their successes, to reenergize, and to plan for the year ahead. The Country Director, Program Mangers and other core staff members from all units join in the celebrations.
