During their Peace Corps service, Volunteers will be exposed to safety hazards in the home which may differ from their experiences in previous living situations. Many of these hazards can lead to serious injury, illness, or death and threats to personal or property security. In addition to the housing guidelines in the site management process aimed at mitigating those risks, Volunteer training about home safety and risk mitigation help reduce accidents and maintain a safe living environment.
